Container wrap: from neutral volume to eye-catcher

A container, a shipping container or a large storage box often stands in the most visible spot on a site and says nothing at all. A container wrap changes that: the entire exterior is covered with printed film, so a neutral volume becomes a brand carrier or an eye-catcher in a single move.

We design, print and install container wraps for businesses, contractors, event organisers, local authorities and hospitality concepts built into containers.

What it is used for

On building sites, where the site office container stands at the roadside for months and is therefore free advertising space. On industrial estates, as a finish for storage containers. At events, where containers serve as a bar, ticket desk or information point. At hire companies, to make their own fleet recognisable. And for hospitality and retail concepts working out of a container, where the wrap is the entire façade.

One side effect clients often underestimate: a treated container gets noticeably less graffiti. A blank container wall invites tagging; a finished image far less so.

The substrate is the challenge

A container is not a flat wall. The corrugated profile, the weld seams, the rivets and the hinges make application skilled work. That has two consequences that need discussing in advance.

First, the film. We work with a cast film that can be pressed into the corrugations and stays there. A cheap calendered film pulls back out of the depth of the corrugation after a few weeks and lifts at the edges.

Second, the design. Fine text and thin lines distort in the corrugation. We allow for that in the design by keeping the message large and robust, and by not running important elements over a door hinge or a locking bar.

Rust, flaking old paint and grime have to go before application. On an older container, preparation is often the largest part of the job; we say that beforehand rather than afterwards.

Full or partial

A full wrap is the most spectacular but not always necessary. Often a large logo on the long side plus the company name on the doors is enough. That costs a fraction and delivers the same recognition at a distance.

Service life

A correctly applied wrap in quality film with a UV laminate lasts several years, even on a container standing outdoors. Without a laminate the print fades noticeably faster, particularly red and blue. Damaged areas can be repaired locally without redoing the whole wall.

Removal is possible; on an older film allow more time and the use of heat.

What determines the price?

A container wrap has no fixed rate. The cost follows from the number of sides treated and the total surface area, the container size, the film quality and whether a UV laminate is used, the condition of the substrate and the preparation work, the complexity of the design, whether the container stands in an accessible spot, and whether we create the design.
