Flags & flagpoles

Event flags

At an event your name has to be readable from a distance, even when there is no wind. That sounds like a detail until you see a row of limp flags along your route. The shape of the flag decides whether it works.

Beach flags

Beach flags whose curved shape stays visible even without wind. The versatile event classic.

Drop flags – indoor

A lighter fabric, meant to hang indoors. It hangs flat and the print comes through crisply. Not resistant to rain, wind or UV.

Which shape to choose

Event flags come in a handful of shapes, and the choice is not only aesthetic.

  • Teardrop: compact at the top, catches less wind and therefore stands more calmly on open ground.
  • Sharkfin: the largest printable area of all the shapes, the best choice when your message has to be read from a distance.
  • Feather: the classic, gently curving silhouette that is most readily recognised as a beach flag.
  • Rectangular: the calmest surface, suitable when a lot of text or a crisp logo has to go on it.

Search for beach flag, feather flag, event flag, sail flag or advertising flag and in practice you mean these products.

Fabric: polyester or mesh

The standard is a woven polyester fabric. The ink penetrates the weave so the flag is readable from both sides, with a mirror image on the back. In open, windy spots, a coastal site, an unsheltered car park, a dyke, mesh is the better choice: the open weave lets the wind through, so there is less pull on the pole and the base.

Bases and anchoring

The same flag stands up in different ways depending on the ground. On grass a ground spike is quickest and looks the tidiest. On hard standing you use a cross base, with a weight or a fillable water bag on top if needed. For use on or beside a vehicle there is a wheel base that clamps under a tyre.

Do not underestimate the base. Most beach flags that blow over do so not because of the flag but because of a base too light for a windy spot.

Assembly and transport

A beach flag is built from a set of fibreglass or aluminium sections that slot into each other, with the fabric sleeved over the top. One person puts one up in a few minutes, without tools. Everything packs back into a carry bag afterwards, which is what makes the product so suitable for anyone taking the same set to ten events a year.

Life span and care

An event flag is not a permanent façade installation. The fabrics fade under UV and the edges wear from flapping. Store your flags dry after every use and never roll them up wet, and you will get many times more seasons out of them. Leave them out all season and the flag becomes a consumable, reprinted every couple of years.

Why the price varies

With event flags the differences come down to four things. The size, obviously. The fabric type, where mesh and heavier qualities cost more but last longer in windy locations. The quantity, because the print set-up happens once and then weighs more heavily on small numbers than on large ones. And the set around it: the same flag with only a ground spike, or with a cross base, water bag and carry bag, is a different package.

Are you asking for one flag for one day, or fifteen flags that have to last three seasons? That is the question that determines the price, not the square metres alone.

What we do

We print the fabrics ourselves, advise on shape and fabric type based on where the flags will stand, and supply the matching poles and bases. Send us your logo or design and tell us where the flags will be used, and we will put together the combination that will hold up there.

Frequently asked questions
